POONCH, NOVEMBER 25 (KNO) : Chief Secretary B.B Vyas today chaired a meeting to take stock of the overall development scenario and implementation of various ongoing development projects in Poonch. Commissioner Secretary, Health & Medical Education Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner Secretary PWD (R&B) Sanjeev Verma and Secretary, School Education Farooq Shah were also present in the meeting. District Development Commissioner Tariq Ahmad Zargar apprised the Chief Secretary about physical and financial status of ongoing development works and flagship programmes taken up by various executing agencies and departments in the border district. He also informed the Chief Secretary about shortage of equipments and doctors especially radiologist in District Hospital and requested for similar infrastructure in SDHs and PHCs in the district. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Dr Pawan Kotwal informed that the department is taking steps to fill up the vacancies of doctors. While reviewing the progress of newly created infrastructure under Health sector, Kotwal directed the CMO, Poonch to immediately take over the new buildings constructed under NRHM and submit detailed requirement of medical equipments and furniture so that public utilities can be dedicated to the people at the earliest. During the meeting, the DDC also raised the issue of restoration of 132 KV transmission line. The Chief Secretary took feedback from the concerned regarding realignment of transmission lines, land issues and tendering process. The meeting also discussed issues hindering the pace of development projects including land acquisition, land compensation and forest clearance. The CS directed the concerned officers to remove bottlenecks by taking appropriate action in a week’s time. He urged the officers to gear up the pace of ongoing works and projects and directed the concerned to personally monitor the progress of ongoing developmental works on regular basis to ensure completion of these projects within the fixed timelines so the people will take benefits from these projects. Later, he visited the sites of various ongoing projects including Secretariat Building in Poonch, indoor sports stadium, Anganwadi ICDS Centre at Mohalla Purani Poonch. ADDC Abdul Hamid, ADC Basharat Hussain, ASP Anwar-ul-Haq, Superintending Engineers, and Executive Engineers from PHE, PDD, R&B, I&FC and officers from various departments were present in the meeting (KNO)
